In Gent, Belgium ground water levels of the contaminates trichloroethylene and vinyl chloride were impacting sub-floor void of the property.
A floating membrane was used to controlled volatilisation of the liquid phase and the vapour phase was controlled by the use of positive pressure. Dilution and dispersion created a clean air zone in the sub-floor void and maintaining a positive pressure produced a clean air blanket reducing the contamination to below the residential safe occupancy levels.
In this project the system design was over seen by ERM Belgium and URS Germany on behalf of the client.
