Radon is a colourless, odourless radioactive gas. It is formed by the radioactive decay of the small amounts of uranium that occur naturally in all rocks and soils.

The radioactive elements formed by the decay of radon can be inhaled and enter our lungs. Inside the lungs, these elements continue to decay and emit radiation, most importantly alpha particles.

These are absorbed by the nearby lung tissues and cause localised damage. This damage can lead to lung cancer.
Independent Analysis

Prestige Air employs an independent accredited analytical laboratory who utilise their own sophisticated analysis system and TASTRAK plastic, providing a radon measurement service that has been validated by the UK Health Protection Agency to produce specific seasonally adjusted results.

The laboratory initially offered radon measurement services in the 1980s and '90s during which they provided radon detectors for the national radon survey.
